Greetings everyone, this is the first article which the restaurant is not in Taipei.
My family and I went to Keelung today and enjoyed exquisite meals here.
There's also information about a vegetarian bakery in Keelung as well, let's check it out!
群賢閣(Qun Xian Ge) is located inside Chung cheng park visitor service center, which is a seasoned tourist spot in Keelung.
It's called Chung cheng park, but it's actually more like a hill, with different roads that lead you to many places. Temples, pavilions, playgrounds, just to name a few.
A glimpse of one of the plazas in Chung cheng park. It was a rainy day so there wasn't many tourists. I also heard that since people nowadays have a lot more things to do on their weekends, the once famous spot for locals and tourists had already lost its heyday. But we can still grasp its good old times by gazing up the mottled signbord of this souvenir shop--there's even Japnese on it!
That's enough old stories for now, let's go back to our restaurant.
It's great that they got English translation on their menu, which saves me some energy to do the translation
Their primary servings are three different sets of meal--NT$398, 598 or 798. You can also order pizza or other dishes a la cart. There's even special set for kids!
Amuse bouche for the NT$398 set. If you order the more expensive sets, there will be little upgrades.
Salad. The first one was Red quinoa, mushroom warm salad. It was the first time I tried warm salad, which means that the vegetables were boiled...
The second one was Garden salad with berry yogurt.
Soup. Daily soup (corn soup) on the left and Chinese herbal soup on the right. They were both nice but we waited a bit long for the soup. I was wondering if they were freshly made, so we had to wait for such a long time.
Fruit cream pizza. I loved it! There were pineapples, kiwis and peaches inside. The crust was just perfect. I consider it one of the best pizzas I tasted recently.
Main dish: Truffle mushroom risotto. It was delicious. Truffle smelled nice, and the rice was neither too hard, nor soft. It would be even better if the portion was bigger.
Main dish: Saute hericium with guacamole.
Highly recommended! The hericium itself was already very tastey, and that guacamole (also with tomato and tomato sauce) was just the icing on the cake. They also recommended Roast hericium steak (in the $798 set) but since we're poor(?), we didn't give it a try.
Dirnks and dessert (berry jelly). Nothing special but not bad as well.
As written on the menu, they consider themselves as restaurant that serves exquisite vegetarian foods. I believe I can give them the credit. Their foods were nice, the workers were extreme friendly, you can even enjoy a plesant view of Keelung harbor through their windows (if weather permitting). If they can further enhance their serving speed, or raise the portion of their meal, it will be even better.
P.S. You don't need to pay the parking fee (NT$30 per hour) if you dine here. The restaurant will handle the fee for you.
Last but not least, the vegetarian bakery!
京餤糕點(Jing Dan) is pretty near to the heart of Keelung. You can take a walk around Keelung harbor and Keelung Miaokou Night Market and reach here easily.
I guess the words on the wall are still...understandable?
They have different varities of breads, cakes and traditional Chinese pastires.
Among them, I found these most interesting--peanut-shaped pastires which come in different flavors. They have green bean, roselle, coffee, chocolate...etc.
Tasted like bean paste cake.
Actually we bought hamburgers and hand roll as well, but my mom was too hungry and ate them all before I could take photos of them...
